It has been a remarkable year for us at Crest Parking and Access Control. One of our latest milestones is our successful partnership with Berman Brothers at The Point Mall, Sea Point. In August 2023, we embarked on a bold initiative: transitioning the mall’s parking system to predominantly cashless technology. The question was simple but significant: Is Sea Point ready to go cashless?

Before we introduced our system, the parking payments at The Point Mall were split 70% cash and 30% card. With our solution, we aimed to reverse this, offering clients multiple payment options including app-based smart payments, smartwatch payments, and mobile phone payments—without eliminating cash entirely, but minimizing its role. The result? We’ve reduced the cash usage from 70% to just 1.3%, while maintaining total convenience for customers.

Our focus has always been on speed, efficiency, and enhancing user experience. With our technology, customers can skip the pay station entirely if they choose. Our TapIn TapOut ticketless system allows users to simply tap their credit or debit card, smartwatch, or phone on entry to generate a virtual ticket, then tap the same device upon exit for a seamless payment experience. We’ve achieved transaction times of just 3-4 seconds, cutting down the time spent at the pay point dramatically.

Moreover, we’ve integrated with Checkers to offer discount vouchers that can be applied automatically, allowing users to bypass the pay station entirely while still enjoying the savings. This type of seamless integration is key to our vision of cashless convenience.

We are proud to say that our proudly South African solution is transforming the parking experience in Sea Point and beyond. Our thanks go to Berman Brothers for trusting Crest PAC to deliver on this innovative vision. We look forward to many more years of success and collaboration.
